External (Technical) Sales Representative

Applications are now open for the position of External Sales Representative in Durban. The overall purpose of this position will be to identify prospective new clients, travel to visit potential clients, establish new relationships and maintain existing relationships, negotiate tender and contract terms, support clients and resolve their problems, and to provide after-sales technical support services, among many other functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Searching for new clients who could benefit from the company’s products within a designated region
  • Travelling to visit potential clients
  • Establishing new and maintaining existing relationships with customers
  • Negotiating tender and contract terms
  • Negotiating and closing sales by agreeing on terms and conditions
  • Providing support to customers and resolving problems with installed equipment
  • Delivering after-sales technical support services
  • Recording and maintaining client contact data
  • Providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education
  • Resolving client problems
  • Providing training and producing support material for clients
  • Managing and interpreting customer requirements
  • Preparing client quotations and following up accordingly
  • Drafting presentations and other documentation and materials that explain products and services to customers
  • Preparing product orders and scheduling deliveries
  • Compiling sales reports
  • Complying with any reasonable tasks assigned by any member of Management from time to time

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric and relevant Electrical, Instrumentation or Millwright qualification
  • At least 5 years previous experience in technical sales
  • Strong knowledge of VSDs, soft starters, Servos and PLCs
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Syspro
