Senior Technician

We’re recruiting for the role of Senior Technician. This role will involve taking responsibility for internal support, field services and repairs – this will include providing 24-hour technical support, attending to on-site breakdowns, assisting with on-site commissioning, attending site meetings, drawing and updating schematic diagrams, writing or analysing service reports on repair units, processing warranty claims, preparing job cards and many other functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing 24-hour technical support
  • Attending on-site breakdowns
  • Conducting on-site commissioning
  • Attending site meetings
  • Analysing, drawing and updating client schematic diagrams
  • Receiving, analysing and writing service reports on repair units
  • Processing warranty claims
  • Completing job cards for repairs and on-site services
  • Keeping Goods Returned Authorisation (GRA) or Returned Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) lists up to date
  • Ensuring spare stock levels are maintained
  • Ensuring correct paperwork is sent to the Sales Department and ensuring customers are timeously and correctly quoted
  • Creating and maintaining up-to-date technical files for each product
  • Assisting in managing Service Department key performance indicators
  • Setting up and testing units installed into panels
  • Performing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) on panels
  • Conducting on-site commissioning
  • Attending site meetings
  • Analysing, drawing and updating client schematic diagrams
  • Completing job cards for on-site services
  • Assisting in managing Panel Department key performance indicators
  • Assisting clients over the phone with technical support
  • Complying with any reasonable tasks assigned by any member of management from time to time

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric Certificate and a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • An Electrical Trade Electrician qualification
  • At least 3 or more year’s work experience specifically related to drives and soft starter service, repairs, and panel building
  • Previous experience in commissioning and servicing of Medium Voltage drives and soft starters
  • Previous experience with Syspro ERP system is preferable
  • Strong Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety at Work regulations
