Radio Planning and Optimisation Specialist (Mpumalanga)

Our client in the telecommunications industry is recruiting for the position of Radio Planning and Optimisation Specialist. The purpose of this position will be to manage site planning, deliver an optimised radio network and resolve customer queries. This will include planning and optimisation of 2G/3G/LTE/5G sites (indoor, greenfield, rooftops, mini’s, macros, etc.) and ensuring optimal performance on network quality by monitoring the network statistics through the relevant tools and implementing determined corrective action.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning and optimising 2G, 3G, LTE and 5G sites including indoor, greenfield, rooftop, mini and macro locations
  • Ensuring optimal network performance and quality by monitoring network statistics through relevant tools and implementing corrective actions as required
  • Pro-actively analysing and recommending capacity dimensioning requirements across all network elements
  • Pro-actively analysing and verifying in-depth network issues by performing relevant traces
  • Investigating and rectifying network failures identified through regular drive testing routes conducted by outsourcing companies such as Umlaut
  • Conducting cluster optimisation of the existing network

Minimum Requirements:

  • Three year National Diploma or Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • At least 3 to 5 years relevant telecoms experience
  • Telecommunications (GSM, UTRAN, LTE, and 5G) courses are essential
  • Experience working with MapInfo, Microsoft Office and Teams
  • Experience with network analysis and statistical tools (e.g., U2020, Actix, Sonar, Atoll, Discovery SmartCare, OSS Probes and Crowd Analysis) 
  • Strong GSM, UMTS, LTE and 5G knowledge
