We’re accepting applications for the position of Senior Customer Data Platforms (CDP) Specialist. The purpose of this position will be to implement the strategy, design, implementation, and optimization of the Customer Data Platform (CDP) to enable personalized experiences, targeted marketing, and data-driven decision-making across the organization. As a CDP Subject Matter Expert in a telecom environment, the role will bridge business and technical teams, ensuring that customer data is efficiently ingested, unified, governed, and activated across multiple channels.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serving as the internal thought leader and subject matter expert on customer data platform capabilities, use cases and integration best practices
- Defining and driving the customer data platform roadmap aligned with marketing, customer experience and digital transformation strategies
- Collaborating with stakeholders including Marketing, Product, Information Technology, Data Science and Legal to identify customer data platform enabled business opportunities
- Overseeing the implementation and ongoing configuration of the customer data platform platform such as Salesforce customer data platform, Adobe real time customer data platform, Tealium and Segment
- Ensuring smooth ingestion, unification and real time availability of first party data from multiple systems including customer relationship management, billing, website, application and network data
- Managing data models, identity resolution strategies and segmentation frameworks within the customer data platform
- Supporting integration of the customer data platform with downstream platforms such as email service providers, data management platforms, advertising platforms, call centres and analytics tools
- Translating business needs into actionable customer data platform use cases such as churn prediction, upsell campaigns, personalised offers and omnichannel orchestration
- Developing audience segments and ensuring proper governance and quality assurance in data usage
- Collaborating with Marketing teams to launch and optimise campaigns using customer data platform derived insights and segments
- Ensuring that all customer data usage within the customer data platform complies with local regulations such as General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and internal privacy standards
- Partnering with Legal and Compliance teams to manage consent, data retention and anonymisation or pseudonymisation where applicable
- Supporting data stewardship by monitoring data quality, accuracy and completeness across ingestion sources
- Tracking and reporting on customer data platform performance metrics including data coverage, identity resolution accuracy, audience activation and campaign outcomes
- Providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement of personalisation strategies based on customer data platform data
- Educating internal teams on customer data platform capabilities, limitations and evolving best practices
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Marketing, or a related field
- Master’s degree preferred
- At least 7+ years of experience in data-driven marketing, MarTech, or digital transformation roles
- At least 3 years of experience working directly with CDPs, preferably in a telecom environment
- Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams
