We're accepting applications for the position of External Sales Engineer. This role is responsible for growing and promoting the sale of technical drive products, generating new business opportunities, and managing a portfolio of customer accounts. It covers developing long-term customer relationships, implementing structured sales plans and driving sustainable sales growth within the assigned territory. The position is based in Durban and requires regular in-person customer engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achieving and exceeding monthly and annual sales targets as set by the Branch Manager through B2B sales
  • Developing and implementing structured sales plans for assigned accounts, identifying value-based opportunities for sustainable growth
  • Conducting regular in-person customer visits, including weekly and monthly engagements with key accounts
  • Building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders through professional and solution-focused communication
  • Generating new business opportunities and qualifying leads
  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of the product range and confidently communicating this knowledge to customers
  • Managing assigned customer accounts
  • Recording and maintaining accurate information on the CRM system

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Electrical Technical qualification in Electrical or Instrumentation field
  • Electrical Diploma, BTech Engineering or BSc Engineering advantageous
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in technical sales
  • Strong technical knowledge of VFDs/VSDs and soft starters
  • Servo and PLC experience advantageous
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience working with ERP and CRM systems
  • Experience with SYSPRO or Fusion advantageous
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Willingness to pursue continuous professional development in sales and engineering
