Customer Accounting Specialist

Applications are now open for the position of Customer Accounting Specialist. The purpose of this position will be to support, maintain and report on all of the company’s revenue driving responsibilities including invoicing, debtor management, month end accounting and reporting, in compliance with internal policies and IFRS.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting, maintaining and reporting on all revenue-driving responsibilities including invoicing, debtor management, month-end accounting and reporting in compliance with internal policies and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Ensuring customer bills are accurate and delivered timeously
  • Reconciling the billing system to planned accounting records
  • Managing contracts and service level agreements with the business and suppliers, including the management of a mix of offshore and onshore suppliers
  • Owning accurate and complete invoicing according to contracts for allocated customers
  • Reporting and actioning requirements to maintain allocated debtor book accounts in good standing
  • Supporting month-end close processes including preparation, reconciliation and presentation
  • Supporting revenue and debtors reporting as well as other key reporting requirements including financial year-end activities
  • Establishing mutually beneficial relationships between various business role players and process owners including Information Technology and Commercial departments
  • Ensuring accounting accuracy and completeness
  • Keeping the debtors book current
  • Providing timely reporting

Minimum Requirements:

  • A financial degree or equivalent is essential
  • At least 3 years relevant experience in a telecoms or technology company
  • IFRS compliant customer accounting experience including SOFP and SOCI
  • Experience using SAP or other multinational ERPs
  • Experience in B2B invoicing from complex contracts
  • Experience managing a debtors book
  • Ability to work across cross-functional and cultural boundaries
