We’re recruiting for the position of Hub Network Engineer (Johannesburg and Cape Town). The incumbent will be the technical expert that implement changes to the IP petwork portfolio for Africa on the hub. Duties will include assisting with IP/MPLS architecture and planning of international IP networks; supporting hub, internet and private VPN layer 2/3 services; as well as staying up to date with the latest technology evolution in IP networking domain design. The role will also involve implementing robust solutions, taking design best practice frameworks into consideration and working with various Subject Matter Experts in developing and implementing robust and innovative solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designing, implementing and maintaining network infrastructure with a focus on VMware, Cisco and Microsoft Azure technologies, engaging with third party vendors as required
- Ensuring the network is operating at peak performance and troubleshooting any issues that arise
- Collaborating with cross functional global teams to ensure the network is meeting the organisation’s needs
- Implementing and maintaining network security protocols to protect the organisation’s data and infrastructure
- Staying up to date on industry trends and new technologies in network engineering and security
- Developing and maintaining network documentation and diagrams, ensuring all configurations are up to date and accurate in line with Standard Operating Procedures
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 5 years of technical experience on networking components in terms of architecture, design, implementation and testing; with a strong focus on
- VMware, Cisco, and Microsoft Azure technologies
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related
- CCIE (or equivalent) certification preferred
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable car essential
- 5) In depth knowledge of network virtualization such as VMware NSX or Cisco ACI
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructure
- Knowledge of network security protocols and best practices
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Deep knowledge of Internet and IP/MPLS Network technology – specifically, broad and deep technical knowledge of MPLS (LDP, RSVP, fast reroute, SegmentRouting), BGP, ISIS, OSPF,
- Ethernet (inc. QoS & OAM), L2 & L3 VPNs IP-QoS, BNGs, IPMulticast, PPP, L2TP, 3rd party ethernet and broadband access products, MEF services (E-LAN,E-tree , ELine.), internet peering and transit, RIPE, IPv6 and NFV
- Demonstrable security best practice awareness across service provider IP/MPLS domains
- Familiar with traffic and KPI indicators on IP/MPLS networks
