We’re recruiting for the position of Real Estate Finance Specialist. The purpose of this position will be to manage the Finance function surrounding the rental portfolios which entails base stations and office leases. Responsibilities will include engaging with the regional property and key stakeholders on a daily basis, taking accountability for compliance and reporting of the transactional processing in a timely and accurate manner. The role will manage and monitor entries posted to these ledgers, month end closure and related reporting for financial year end. The ideal candidate will also possess excellent analytical and operational capabilities as well as strong financial technical skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analysing operational accounts on a monthly basis to identify trends and anomalies
- Recommending journals based on analysis to ensure complete and accurate accounting
- Analysing and reporting on contracts and the Real Estate System
- Analysing reported data to identify key trends and anomalies, performing exception reporting, investigating exceptions and resolving issues reported to management
- Analysing lease costs at site level
- Identifying and reporting material risks and opportunities in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensuring lease accounting is accurate and complete through review of monthly analysis as part of the Month End Close (MEC) process
- Ensuring depreciation and interest are complete and accurate
- Posting additional journals and adjustments to ensure accurate and complete records, including reallocation journals and intercompany journals
- Providing supporting information to Tax and supporting tax requirements where required
- Preparing Sarbanes Oxley controls (SOX)
- Reporting on general ledger accounts to Finance Business Partners
- Performing and assisting with ad hoc projects as required
- Supporting the implementation of a strong control environment, ensuring compliance with all relevant group policies
- Supporting the implementation of appropriate Sarbanes Oxley controls (SOX), internal controls and compliance requirements relating to the month end close and reporting process
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar
- At least 2 years similar experience in the telecommunications sector
- Working knowledge of accounting principles
- Strong Microsoft Office experience
- Experience with SAP and HFM will be an advantage
