Compliance Specialist

This position is based in Johannesburg.

Applications are now open for the position of Compliance Specialist within Group Compliance. The purpose of this position will be to provide operational and coordination support to the Group Compliance function by assisting with the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of compliance frameworks, regulatory obligations, and governance activities across the company’s operating markets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing operational and co-ordination support to the Group Compliance function
  • Assisting with implementation, monitoring and reporting of compliance frameworks, regulatory obligations and governance activities
  • Supporting the Legal Compliance Programme in executing and maintaining Regulatory Universes and Compliance Risk Management Plans (CRMPs)
  • Assisting with regulatory tracking and high-level impact assessments
  • Preparing committee packs for the compliance function
  • Executing and supporting Anti-Bribery and Corruption programme activities
  • Operationalising the three lines of defence model
  • Co-ordinating with market compliance teams and following up on actions and submissions

Minimum Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Degree (preferably Law, but Risk Management, Governance or IT qualifications will also be considered)
  • At least 3 to 5 years working experience as a Compliance Specialist
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Strong compliance, legal, risk or governance experience
  • Strong coordination, reporting and organisational skills
  • Attention to detail and strong written communication
  • Multi-jurisdictional compliance exposure
  • Exposure to Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Competition Law or Data Protection
