This position is based in Johannesburg.
We’re recruiting for the role of Senior Accountant. The purpose of this position will be to oversee and manage accounting operations within the company. This will include ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance; leading financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes; managing systems and providing support and solutions on reporting; as well as analysing financial performance and providing insights to support strategic decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Managing systems and providing support and solutions for reporting
- Analysing financial performance and providing insights to support strategic decision-making
- Maintaining and overseeing bookkeeping up to Balance Sheet
- Preparing and presenting monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management accounts
- Ensuring accuracy and compliance are adhered to
- Developing and implementing effective inventory management controls and procedures
- Conducting regular cost analysis and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Providing financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning
- Managing cash flow and developing cash forecasts
- Ensuring efficient use of financial resources and maintaining liquidity
- Overseeing accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
- Ensuring compliance with VAT, tax and other regulatory requirements
- Maintaining and enhancing internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Preparing and submitting regulatory reports and filings
- Supervising and mentoring accounting staff
- Collaborating with other departments to ensure financial alignment with operational goals
- Assisting the Financial Director with special projects and reports as needed
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional qualification (CGMA, ACCA, CIMA) is an advantage
- At least 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting role
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable
- Proficient in accounting software (Pastel Evolution is an advantage)
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial modeling
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory management
